Visit

I had a pleasant surprise recently. One afternoon, my cousin called me from Transylvania, that her son leaves for Vienna by car and she would come with her. If I wait for her on the M1 motorway, she'll be able to stay a few days in Budapest. At night, at  3 o'clock a.m. I was on the way by car. We couldn't sleep a lot because the next day – 23rd October - we would have liked to see some programmes of the national holiday. In the morning we drank a lot of coffee and we went to look at the Parliament. Thanks to the free entry, the people snaked in a long line around the building.

We thought that we'll to wait for one hour and if we don't get ahead, we'll go away.
Incredibly, after one hour we were at the gate. Actually we could see the crown only, and we couldn't see the complete building.

When we went out, a musical changing of the guards just started.

The rest of the day we made up for the missed night.

The next day we awoke to a beautiful sunny day. At the end of October one can think, perhaps this is the last beautiful weekend, so we went to hike to the Buda hills. From the Szépjuhászné ( Beautiful shepherd wife ) we climbed to the top of Feketefej (Black head) hill

and after that we arrived through the Kecskehát (Back of goat) and Meszes (Limy) hill to Remeteszőlős (Vineyard of hermits). From here we went home by bus.

PAPRÉT

We were able to go to the nature long ago because the weather was bad. On
last Saturday - although  the forecast  promised better weather  -  promised
+6-8 degrees -  it seemed tempting.  So we left in the nice weather for Paprét
in  the morning . This small section of the Blue Trail was missing, so we chose
this small hike. We went from Szentendre to the bus stop Pilisszentlászló-Hegytető.
On the top of the hill  it was  foggy, rainy and there was a lot of snow,  that
disappeared already  in  the city.

We went on the red path about  3 kms to the forester's house in Paprét.
All the time  it was raining  hopelessly.

At the forester's house  we looked for  a stamp, and then we turned back on
the blue trail to the village  Pilisszentlászló.

As we descended the snow melted, and  became many small streams.
And of course all the water flowed down on the hiking path.

When we arrived at the village  our shoes, coats, backpacks, gloves, and all
stuff were completely wet. We waited for our bus in  Gesztenyés Pub. There
wasn’t   anything to eat or hot drinks. We were lucky that we took with us
hot tea and sandwiches.

Of course, the homeward journey  wasn't pleasant, our wet clothes kept us
cool. I desired  a hot shower at home only.

An irregular trip :)

About 10 days ago, preparing for an easy hike.We met with our friends in front of the Botanical Garden Vácrátót on Saturday.

The largest botanical garden in Hungary is home to 13,000 species of plants only 25 kilometres away from Budapest. The gardens was the brainchild of a sentimental earl, Sándor Vigyázó

who transformed the Vácrátót estate and its average-looking English garden. While wandering along the intimate trails under almost 200-year old trees, through fields filled with 2800 species of flowers, among rose and genarium collections, you’ll meet 62 types of nesting birds, 22 types of fish and 73 mollusk species inhabiting the garden and its waters.

We were walking in the garden is almost one and a half hours. Then we headed on foot to Veresegyház. The weather was very hot, so we rest next to a fishpond at the pub. :)

Two hours later we saw the city's church tower.

Veresegyház is town with almost 14,000 inhabitants 23 km from Budapest, in one of the valleys of Gödöllő hill-country. It is a settlement founded in Árpád´s age, first mentioned in documents in 1375. The Roman Catholic church was built in the 18th century, in the style of the age of Louis XVI. in France, with a Golgotha statue of baroque style in the garden. The village is also decorated with the statue called "Mother" made by the famous sculptor, Pál Kő. There are ponds suitable for bathing and angling in the neighbourhood of the village. Park of statues in the vicinity of the ponds with the works of the Japanese sculptor, Mitsui Sen. A warm-water medicinal bath awaits visitors during the whole year. A swimming pool is available for visitors in the territory of the elementary school opened in the evenings on weekdays and all day at weekends. Sights of the village include the Bears´ and Wolves´ Home with 42 bears and 20 wolves, located in natural environment in Külső-Patak Street.
We looked for our girlfriend's house, there was already ready for a delicious goulash.

Until evening we talked and drank fine wines, then we build up the tents.

In the morning wasn't in hurry nobody.:)
That was almost 11 o'clock am, when we start home. The walk was about. 4 km. We found the station of light rail, from here we arrived back home quickly.

Börzsöny

Nagyobb térképre váltás

Yesterday morning we started a hiking at the Börzsöny-Hill. This mountain is my favorite place. Morning was beautiful sunny, but the air was chilly. We hoped, for the whole day will be very nice. Finally, it was so.We traveled by train to Kismaros, from here by bus to the village Kóspallag. (Village with 775 inhabitants above Nagymaros in the Börzsöny Mountains. The single-aisled, late baroque Holy Virgin church was built in 1805. In the vicinity remains of a Paulite monastery from the 15th century can be seen. The water of Kishanta streamlet was collected with a barrage thus making an anglers' lake.) Here began the walk path. First of all we went through the valley streamlet Kishanta. On last week there was snow here, now just mud and water.

Sometimes was the path's end because the water came down the hill, but this wasn't a difficulty for us. :)

We ate a snack next to the streamlet, then we started away.

Soon we arrived at the hike's highest point. (292 m):) The place's name : Meadow's dry trees, but here there wasn't trees, only a big field.

Then followed trough the romantic Csömöle Valley to the village Kismaros.

On the way we had lunch next to the Riesner-source. Early afternoon we arrived back at Budapest. It was a beautiful day.

First weekend

Nagyobb térképre váltás

Yesterday said the Meteorological Institute that end of a very cold, so the first time this year, we went hiking at the Buda hill. It was true, didn't have minus 10 degrees, but there wasn't plus10 degrees. There is still considerable snow in the woods, at the end of the trip at the village began melt the snow in the early afternoon only. Unfortunately, we had only a few minutes of sunshine

Between Paty and Telki we went at the green crosses trail, the edge of the Black Hill. We was climbing Telki- mountain (421 m), and then at the Hunter House Anna we had lunch from our backpack. Soon, we went to the green square trail has been steadily descended to the village Budajenő to the bus station. Here we will have to wait 40 minutes, so it's lost the heat, which we gathered up on the way. At home gratified a little mulled wine :) After the holidays, when we ate a lot of grit, it was very good for a small movement in the beautiful snowy forest. Unfortunately, I forgot to charge the batteries, so I made only two pictures.

Last week

It was difficult last week, because I was on leave one month. The school has begun. The bus had a large crowd. I have to wait 2 -3 vehicle so long

I can go. I had a hope only , we are going to go a picnic on Saturday. My colleague Kate invited us to her forest edge house again. Last year we had beautiful weather, on saturday was the sky overcast and rained in the afternoon. With F. we were traveling by bus to Katalinpuszta, hill Börzsöny, near Budapest. We were wandering in the woods for a while. We were looking for mushrooms. We visited the memorial Mr.Pál Rockenbauer. (documentary maker, television editor, Alpinist , writer.)

End of the '70 years he walked along with his team on Hungarian Countrywide Blue Tour (CBT) which is the oldest long distance walking path in Europe. The complete length of the route is 1128.2 km (701.03 mile), with an elevation gain of 30213 meter (99124 feet) in the West-East direction, through the northern part of the country - climbing mainly hills and small mountains. The CBT is pretty well-known in Hungary, thanks to a documentary serial (from 1979) of a famous Hungarian hiker Mr. Rockenbauer . He had a films about the trip: One and a Half Million Steps in Hungary. In 1986, started again to the South Transdanubia Countrywide Blue Tour . This film: ....another One Million Steps in Hungary. These are TV Series today still. Mr. Rockenbauer has not seen the second film. He died on a walking trip at Katalinpuszta. He had 54 years old only.

Börzsöny

We were at Pentecost for
3 days in reserve Börzsöny Mountains in northern Hungary, about 100 km from Budapest, near the Slovak border. It is of volcanic origin. On a former crater rim are the highest peaks in the Börzsöny, including the Csóványos, which is 938 m with the highest elevation in the mountainous region. The area covers the area of about 400 km. Most of the natural sources for its many well-known area is protected. In the north of Magas-Börzsöny Kemence is the stream that borders the northern part.(The name derives from the Slavic word from Kamenica, which means "stony river bed.") The area can be further divided into two main parts, separated by a valley from each other. The northern part consists mainly of sedimentary rock that was created prior to the volcanic activity. In contrast, the South lava is the predominant substrate.

To the rich wildlife of the area also includes the stock of big game, including deer, wild boar, roe deer and even the mouflon. Often come pheasants, foxes before, hares, badgers, martens, weasels and otters. The birds of prey include the Eastern Imperial Eagle,Saker Falcon of the hawk and the goshawk. The best-known songbirds are the nightingale, the thrush and the lark. In the village there is a
forest Kemence and Museum Railway. This is the only railway line in Hungary, which is operated solely by volunteers work. Technical special feature of this railway is the 600 mm gauge, and a special expansion of the trail. The course is developed so that there is a continuous gradient (which was previously necessary for timber transport). The village inhabitants Kemence i1174, and was in the XVIII. Century, the capital of the garrison county Hont. Kemence is today one of the Pest County, and is one of the tourist center of the area.

Promenade d'hiver / Winter walk / Winterspaziergang

We have seen a few weeks only gray skies. For today we have one prophesied sunshine. Before lunch, I gave my granddaughter for parents and I started out walking in the neighborhood. The sun really shone, in the forest was soft snow on the branches of magnificent snow.

So the thought of half the town just go out in the woods:) Many people walking with children on foot and tobogganing or skiing. My friends have gone off in the morning, I met with them half way. From here we went through together Hárshegy (Lindenhill) to Hüvösvölgy (Cool-valley). Here is the terminus of the Children's Railway. In the pub we drank mulled wine and we talked about this and that. Then everyone went home in high spirits. That was a nice half day.
