Yesterday

morning my son Ö. flew from London to Las Vegas for a trade talks. The flight was long enough, more than 10 hours.

He'll stay one week there. He won't have time to go to the casino, but he has a plan, an excursion to the Grand Canyon.

I'm here again :)

At last I'm trying to find time to write in my blog. Last year I've really enjoyed being retired, I was able to deal with things that I like, but I never had time for them beside work. There were many little experiences that are difficult to enumerate and my life has become much calmer. I traveled a lot. I travelled to Romania, Slovakia, Austria, Tyrol, England.

I dealt with the history of my family intensively. The oldest person was born in 1640. Unfortunately, the older documents are only in Latin, so I had a little taste of the Latin language. I learned Latin in the secondary school for one year, but I thought it isn't so important. I chose other languages. But how good it would be to have a little Latin knowledge !

I was hiking a lot. We began to walk on the National Blue Circle. Today two sections are ready - the National Blue Trail and the South Transdanubian Blue Trail - and this year we started the third section, the Big Plain Blue Trail. I hope the first half of next year I'll also manage to finish and then we can say we walked around the Hungarian border and we went almost 2,500 kms.

Meanwhile, my grandchildren have grown a lot. Zsolt is already 18 years old and Mate will be seven years old, and he's a serious pupil.

Also I read a lot, I continued my English study, I renovated my flat and finally I learned to bake cakes and bread.

This year our next class reunion was due. We graduated 45 years ago. I don't even want to count, when I finished the secondary school. In general, we meet in May.On previous occasions, usually I organized it and everyone accepted it. This year I've been pretty busy, I only waited for an invitation. The months passed and nothing happened. In late September, I wrote an email to one of my classmates. : "What do you know about the meeting?" Did you forget to write to me ? I thought that everybody was very busy. The girl answered to me and she organized a lunch for 10th October. We were 21 students in the class. Unfortunately, one of our classmates already died, and three of them never come there. A girl is living in Germany. She came all the time, but now she got the invitation a little late. 16 classmates gathered together. It's not so bad. Our school was in the town of Vác.

We have calculated that the majority of the class was no longer living in Vác, but no one said: sorry I don't want to travel. For our form master we were the first class after her university and she's only a few years older than us We greeted each other as old friends. In 2011 was the last time when we met, so everyone had plenty to say. In the pictures there are no more children, but grandchildren. Now they have the leading role. We planned it have a little conversation for about 1-2 hours after the lunch but finally we only said goodbye to each other at 7 pm. I think everybody had a very nice Saturday afternoon .

Weekdays

I haven't written in my blog for a long time.

I started to learn English again, with my friend. The lesson is once a week, but, it takes 4 hours. According to our young teacher, a week is a long time, so there's always a lot of homework. I need to study each evening. During learning I notice a lot of mistakes. I read a lot of English books but is not enough to understand the text. It is also important to talk. I would like others to understand me.

I started another thing too. I found an old box , in it I had a lot of old papers and photos. I know the close relatives, but I never heard of the others. I tried to arrange them and finally they became a family tree. It is like a real tree, new branches are born always

Today there are about 100 family members. I'm getting a lot of help from my elder brother. He also found old documents. In July I travelled to Transylvania. Me and my cousin went to a small village where the family members lived long ago. We were there the whole day. We met old people (80-90 years old), who could tell us many interesting things. It was the most interesting, that we found a new relative.

The following event: my grandchild comes to my place on holiday.

Visit to England

Last week I spent in England. This time I traveled with Malév, but this wasn't less than time as the Easyjet in November:) It's true that both flight arrived London-Gatwick, but different terminals.

I said for Emese, don't come out to greet me with the kids early in the morning, I'll find their house second time too. There was a small adventure. I needed to go from the North Terminal to the South Terminal. This direction was unknown to me. I can to ask information, but a answer I didn't understand. Finally, a woman accompanied me to the Shuttle – train. 5 minutes and I was at the South Terminal, it was known to all already. I changed train and 10 minutes later I was in Redhill.
Still I had 15 minutes to walk and I have been with my grandchildren. We were happy for each other, we talked a bit, then we went shopping. I promised to make dinner, what like to eat. Early in the evening started to sleep. The next day, Sunday I went walking near Redhill at the Gatton Park. Of course, it was rain, fog and mud on the path.

The park is set up 15 mid-century, there is a National Trust since 1996, approx. 600 acres of mixed forests and parks made up of established paths for walkers, lakes, an old school, a farm and the lookout points. On Monday, after the work came Ors at Redhill, and we traveled together to his apartment at East Grinstead (Sussex).

Here we were until two days and it's raining always.
The small village has a middle ages atmosphere. We walked a lot at village and in the vicinity of the village.

In the evenings I cooked, then we played exciting computer games.
On Wednesday evening we went back to Redhill. Thursday morning, the sun finally came out and became the spring weather. We could walking without a jacket.
Temperature was +15 degrees. Unfortunately, I had to travel back home afternoon.
Even in the morning we went to the Memorial Park. Here Matt has played and ran a little bit. Then we sat on a terrace and drank delicious coffee.

It was time for a short lunch only, then I packed and had to go to the train station.Direction to airport ! The flight was delayed a lot, I just got home at midnight. Early Friday morning I had to go to work. It was good for me to meet with the kids.

A visit to England 2.

Sunday it was raining, nevertheless we went to London. The journey by train was a little more than a half-hour. We arrived at the London Victoria Station.

This's a good place, many attractions can be seen on foot. A short walk and there are Westminster Cathedral, Wesminster Abbey, Big Ben, Parliament, Thames and the bridges, Trafalgar Square, London Eye.

During this time can we watched so much. It was cold and we were wet. I hope I'll have more luck the next time.
Monday morning the sun came out, but it was still cold. After breakfast we went to the nearby village Reigate. Here Matt have a activity every Monday. The little kids dancing, singing, listening to music with theirs mum. During the time I was walking in the city. Reigate is a small rural English town with nice houses.

Backwards we stopped in the nice Priory Park. Matt knew a little running around here. Today was the last night in UK, I played with the kids a little more.
Tuesday morning Zsolt went at school, I packed my suitcase, then we went with Emese and Matt to the train station. Here was a surprise to me. I met with my girlfriend. We went by train together to Gatwick Airport . She lives in Redhill, but she went to the Univerity what is nearby Brighton. Earlier we planned drink a coffee at Redhill, but there wasn't time to do. We had happy and we talked a lot.
Flying start was in time. I have already arrived in the early afternoon to Budapest.

A visit to England

Last weekend I have spent in UK. I visited my children and grandchildren. The trip was pleasant. The time of flight just 2.5 hours, but due hard regulations, can take half a day. I traveled by train to the Budapest Airport at noon Friday. This was faster than by car through the busy city.At the Airport London-Gatwick met me Emese, Matt and Zsolt. We went more by train to Redhill 15 minutes. It was raining and it was so up to 2 days. Monday morning become sunny but hard cold.
On Friday evening we had shopping and we talked after the dinner.
On Saturday me and Zsolt wandered around the town, He showed me the school building.
Redhill is located south of London it's Surrey county already.
Redhill is a small town with 25,000 inhabitants.
Every Thursday and Saturday the High Street become market.

A typical red brick building is the cultural center.

My son Örs arrived in the afternoon, then we went out to dinner together to the next city Salfords. This small restaurant, I can recommend it to those who go here. It's cheap, unlimited salad dish and beverage consumption.

Technique, / Technik

It was today the London – Brighton veteran car run.
My Grandchild Zsolti said to me, to enter the Skype quickly. In England, he made a webcam into his window, so I looked the veteran cars. In this way I saw and heard on my own grandchildren as well.

On Saturday my son Örs came home for a couple of days from England. (After 10 years of living overseas, it is hard to decide whether 'home' is in Hungary or abroad :)). Of course, I waited for him at the airport. Fortunately his plane arrived in time in the afternoon, because we had an evening program. We prepared ourselves and went out for dinner. It is amazing how fast air travel is in these days. It is true that the flight itself didn't take more than two hours, but their departure was at 10 o'clock in the morning from home and we arrived at home in Budapest by 18 o'clock. After a little breather we went to a restaurant near to us for dinner, then we went to the Chain Bridge on the Pest side. We arrived a bit earlier to our program, just in time to see the remains of the People's Exhibition Centre, which was held in the afternoon.

The reason why we went there was a concert, which started at 9 o'clock in the evening. One of Örs's favorite musicians, Lajko Felix and his friends gave a great show, in front of several thousands of spectators on the quay of the Danube. The concert took one hour and a half. It's hard to say and decide whether I like it or not, but I have to admit that these guys from Vojvodina created a special atmosphere. The audience was in ecstasy, not to mention how their virtuosity enchanted their violin's play. I recommend to everyone to listen to them at least once.

Haile Gebrselassie has won the Great Manchester Run for the third time, but strong winds kept him from posting a fast time in the 10-kilometer race. The 37-year-old Gebrselassie finished in 28 minutes, 2 seconds, which was 23 seconds off his winning time last year.
